Video Story Competition on New Criminal Laws

The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in collaboration with MyGov, has launched an exciting initiative to promote awareness about the new criminal laws in India. This video story competition invites citizens, especially the youth, to create engaging and informative short videos focusing on key topics related to these laws. The initiative aims to educate the public, particularly university and school students, about the significant changes introduced in the legal framework.

New Criminal Laws Covered

Participants are encouraged to create videos that delve into the following three groundbreaking criminal laws introduced in 2023:

  1. Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023: A comprehensive legal framework aimed at modernizing India’s judicial system.
  2. Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023: A law focusing on enhancing public safety and security.
  3. Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023: A reformed evidence law designed to integrate modern practices and technology.

Competition Guidelines

  • Video Specifications: The videos should be 2-5 minutes in duration and can be in Hindi, English, or any regional language. They must be submitted in MP4 format.
  • Eligibility: The competition is open to all Indian citizens. No entry fee is required.

Rewards and Recognition

From the ten topics listed, one winner will be selected for each topic, and the prize money for each winner is ₹10,000. The winning videos will be shared with stakeholders in the criminal justice system to amplify their impact and reach.


Terms and Conditions

  1. Submission: Videos must be submitted within the stipulated time frame. Late submissions will not be considered.
  2. Content: Entries must be original and free from any provocative, objectionable, or inappropriate material.
  3. Selection Process: A Selection Committee will evaluate all entries and make the final decision, which will be binding.
  4. Prize Disbursement: Winners will be required to provide bank details for the disbursement of prize money. Failure to do so will nullify their selection.
  5. Intellectual Property: The organizers reserve the right to use the submitted videos for promotional and educational purposes.
  6. Disqualification: Plagiarized, false, or erroneous entries will be disqualified.
