Meaning:

3. Manojavam Marutatulyavegam Mantra

मनोजवम् मारुततुल्यवेगम् जितेन्द्रियम् बुद्धिमताम् वरिष्ठम्।

वातात्मजम् वानरयूथमुख्यम् श्रीरामदूतम् शरणम् प्रपद्ये॥

Transliteration:
Manojavam Marutatulyavegam Jitendriyam Buddhimatam Varishtham।
Vatatmajam Vanarayuthamukhyam Shriramadutam Sharanam Prapadye॥

Meaning:
This is a highly revered shloka, often recited at the beginning of Hanuman worship or before reading the Hanuman Chalisa. It glorifies Lord Hanuman as:

  • Fast as the mind (Manojavam)
  • Equal in speed to the wind (Marutatulyavegam)
  • Master of senses (Jitendriyam)
  • Wise among the wise (Buddhimatam Varishtham)
  • Son of the Wind God (Vatatmajam)
  • Chief of the Vanaras (Vanarayuthamukhyam)
  • Messenger of Lord Rama (Shriramadutam)
